Hollywood Drive-In Golf now open at Universal Orlando CityWalk

On March 12, 2012, Universal Orlando Resort officially opened the brand new miniature golf experience- Hollywood Drive-In Golf at Universal CityWalk.

The Hollywood Drive-In Golf features two 18-hole courses based on classic drive-in era horror and sci-fi movies.  Imagine teeing off through the open mouth of a giant space worm or the basement laboratory of a towering haunted house. To celebrate the grand opening, some of Universal Orlando's iconic characters "hit the links." Universal's classic monsters - including Dracula, Wolfman, Frankenstein's Monster and the Bride of Frankenstein - putted their way through a creepy cemetery on "The Haunting of Ghostly Greens" course.

On the other course, Men In Black agents and Frank the Pug played "Invaders from Planet Putt" - a course themed after the "little green men" science fiction films of the 1950s.

Designed by Universal's Creative team in partnership with Adventure Golf Design and Development, Hollywood Drive-In Golf is now open to the public daily from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. Admission rates to play one course are $13.99 plus tax for adults and $11.99 plus tax for children (ages 3 to 9).

DreamFinder Travel not only books Disney, but we also book Universal Orlando reservations.  Contact your DreamFinder DreamMaker for more information or to request your pricing quote today.

Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Game now offered

Want to experience even more Disney Magic on your Walt Disney World vacation? Well you now can play an interactive adventure game with the legendary wizard Merlin! Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom is a role-playing game that takes you around the park to help Merlin solve a series of clues, and prevent Disney Villains from taking over the Magic Kingdom!

Players (sorcerer's apprentices) are aided by "magic spells" on special cards as they search for symbols that reveal the hiding places of the Disney Villains. By casting magical spell cards the apprentices engage in battles with the villains. Spells include things such as creating cyclones and flinging fireballs. This is similar to the Kim Possible mission in Epcot and is a great deal of fun for kids and adults alike!

Here are two pictures of what the spell cards look like.

The game is included with your park admission--all you need to do is head over to the Firehouse on Main Street USA to get signed up. Once you are inside and sign up, cast members will give you a map, a key card, and five spell cards (there are 70 cards in all.) Then you will proceed to the "mystic portal" where you will meet Merlin the magician, who will explain how to play.
If you have played this game already, we would love to hear your thoughts about it below!

New interactive menu at the Hollywood Brown Derby for special dietary needs

According to Studios Central, there is a new interactive menu being tested at the Hollywood Brown Derby at Disney's Hollywood Studios.  This new menu allows a guest to select their allergens, and choose menu items that do not contain those items.  It also has a vegetarian and vegan filtering options as well.  This looks like a really cool way to help guests determine which menu items will work best for their dietary concerns!

Take a look:

Disney's Mobile Magic phone app now available for iPhone

While previously only available for Verizon Wireless customers, Disney has just released their Mobile Magic phone app for users of the iPhone.  You can now download the app directly from iTunes.  The app is still available for users of other mobile phones as well (it works great on android phones.)  Just go to the android market on your phone to download the app.

If you are not familiar with this app, it is a great helping tool for your park visits.  It helps with dining information (and you can use it to make a dining reservation at Walt Disney World), it lets you know where the characters are, gives wait times for rides/attractions, tells the current Fast Pass return times on rides/attractions, and much more.

If you are a Verizon Wireless customer, you can now access premium features, including videos and games withing the app.  Premium features include:
  • Pirates games
  • Disney Character Quiz
  • Disney Character Puzzle
  • more than 100 videos (behind-the-scenes, sneak peaks, and seasonal)
DreamFinder Travel will be trying out the new premium features this weekend at the Disneyland Resort and reporting back on these new features and how they work.  Check back for updates.

If you have used the Mobile Magic app on your phone, please leave us comments below on your thoughts about it.
